The waiting list for home-care support in Nova Scotia has grown from 422 people in April to 760 at the end of October. 

NDP health critic Dave Wilson, who revealed the statistics Wednesday at Province House, said the increase isn’t acceptable and the government needs to address the issue. The spike in the last six months means the government is either asleep at the wheel or not taking the right steps, said Wilson.

“This is a way of keeping people out of the hospital, this is a way of keeping people out of long-term care. It’s better for an individual to stay home as long as possible, and they can do that with the support of home care."
